The North High School student council and drama club are hosting a free senior citizens dinner and show on Thursday, February 2. The tentative graduation dates for 2012 have been scheduled. Hope High School will graduate on Friday, May 18 at Hope High School. North, South, West, and East High Schools will graduate on Saturday, May 19 at the Family Arena. West High Teacher receives Emerson Award 12/07/2011
West High school teacher Robyne Elder was recently honored at the Emerson Outstanding Teacher Awards. The ceremony was held at the Sheldon Concert Hall where over 150 educators from the St Louis and Southern Illinois region were honored for outstanding contributions to their local districts. Fort Zumwalt North High School recently held their annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This year’s recipients of this coveted honor were: James C. Moss (Class of 1968) - Currently serving at the U.S. Embassy in Sana’a, Yemen. Jon Gibbs (Class of 1981) - Retired from North High School after 25 years of serving as a social studies teacher, assistant wrestling coach, head wrestling coach, assistant football coach, and activities coordinator. Dr. Jeffrey Frost (Class of 1986) – United States Secret Service Special Agent in Charge. Steven R. Cuneio (Class of 1988) – Chaplain, United States Air Force. The Senior Survival class at Fort Zumwalt East High School, taught by Mrs. Pat Newell, recently had a sewing project to create Honor Banners. These banners will be used to cover veterans that pass away at St. Charles- St. Louis veterans’ homes. The material was donated by the VFW Post 2866 Ladies Auxiliary. This project allowed the students to honor our veterans in a special way. Professional Learning Communities 11/08/2011
Prior to the beginning of the school year, the teaching staff was treated to a presentation by J. Richard Dewey. Dr. Dewey has more than 34 years of experience as a teacher, athletic coach, assistant principal, and principal. He is a leading authority on best practices in school improvement and successful leadership. Dr. Dewey has an extensive knowledge of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and led the attendees in discussion and exercises.
